Colin H Mackay

A native of Glasgow, Colin Mackay is a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and, after many years in the teaching profession, now works privately, teaching piano and singing – a passion of his for many years. He was appointed Conductor of Glasgow Cathedral Choral Society in 2002.

During his student days he was a member of Glasgow Cathedral Choir, and was later in the Scottish Philharmonic Singers, for whom he did some solo work, as also for Cappella Nova.

As an Organist, his playing engagements over the years have included radio and television broadcasts for the BBC, recitals in various parts of Scotland, and two recital visits to Canada (one at the invitation of the Canadian Government). He spent thirty years as Organist and Director of Music in Bearsden North Parish Church, and in 1999 returned to Glasgow Cathedral as Assistant Organist. Also that year, he travelled to Singapore to conduct several Praise Concerts promoted by the Girls' Brigade.
